Companies House Identity Verification – Who needs to Verify?

In Autumn 2025, all Company Directors, Company Secretary’s and Persons with Significant Control (PSCs) will be required to complete identity checks aimed at preventing the misuse of companies for illegal activities. The exact date has been announced from 18 November 2025.

What you should do now….

Check Your Director and PSC Information
Visit Companies House, search for your company name, click on the “People” tab, and review the “Persons with Significant Control” section. Ensure all details are accurate, up to date, and that names are spelt correctly. ttps://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk
Review All Your Companies
If you’re involved with more than one company, repeat the above steps for each one. Make sure your personal details are consistent across all registrations (e.g., avoid using a full name in one and a shortened version in another). If you need to make changes, please let us know and we can help with any changes.
Check your ID (you will need 1 of the following):
1. Biometric passport from any country
2. UK photo driving licence (full or provisional)
3. UK biometric residence permit (BRP)
4. UK biometric residence card (BRC)
5. UK Frontier Worker permit (FWP)
Make sure the ID …
1. Has not expired
2. Is clear and legible (no glare, shadows or damage)
3. Shows your full name (that matches Companies House) date of birth and expiry date

Important Note – You cannot use the same email address for multiple individuals when verifying via the app. If your business uses a shared company email address, each person who needs to complete verification must use a unique email address.
