Changes to UK Company Law

Posted on 2nd February 2026 by David Rudd

Self employed construction worker

There have been changes under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act that began in March 2024.

The Act basically gives Companies House more power to crack down on economic crime and keep the register cleaner and more trustworthy. Over time, the info on their system should be clearer, more accurate, and easier for everyone to rely on.

The new rules apply to:

  • Anyone who’s already a director or becoming one
  • People who have significant control over a company (PSCs)
  • Anyone who files documents or information for a company
